COVID-19 Pandemic- The adverse effects
The COVID-19 pandemic in India has led on to a stir in the lives of every individual across the globe. Every major economy has taken a devastating hit. Job losses are like never before at this stage. Among them, it is the poor who have been affected the worst. They have been left to feed for themselves with no food or work. Experts went on to predict that the effect of COVID-19 pandemic in India would be highly evident on migrant workers as well as daily wage workers. They have been in need of money and food since this lockdown started. To let poor communities stride through these tough times, Pattem Foundation has come up with a number of missions:
Helping daily wagers get their morsel of food
To help the families with hygiene kits
The total number of people who have been directly affected due to COVID-19 outbreak is on the rise. There has been a constant increase in the death toll as well. In order to contain the spread of the virus, we need to maintain proper hygiene. Our team has come forward with an initiative to provide soaps, sanitisers along with masks. This is to help and protect low-income families, slum dwellers, people with chronic illnesses such as Cancer and AIDS and abandoned elderly people with Covid-19 guidelines and Covid-19 crisis. More than anything else, they should know that many kind hearted souls are awaiting to support them unconditionally.
To protect every healthcare worker with PPE kits
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits have been quite useful to stop the spread of Coronavirus among different healthcare workers. The estimates show that India requires more than 2 crore PPE kits. Since the number of active cases has been increasing at a rapid pace, the kits have been in shortage. Every healthcare worker including nurses, doctors, paramedics along with other hospital staffs who are working closely with the patients needs protection. The PPE kit would include surgical gloves, masks, medical aprons, disposable goggles and face-shield supporting the Covid-19 guidelines.
Feeding families suffering from hunger and dehydration
Millions of people are suffering from dehydration and starvation due to COVID-19 outbreak. Families have found it hard to arrange food for all the members. They no longer have any access to dry rations. In order to protect them from hunger, we have planned to provide every family with nutritious food such as rice, vegetables, daal and wheat. The menu is well planned to keep in mind about the diet and nutritious values and Covid-19 crisis.
